Would psychology be a nice compliment to a marketing degree or a waste of time/money?
As a junior in Marketing, I would like to know peoples’ thoughts on the idea of taking psychology credits or even attempting a dual major of Marketing and Psychology? Would having some psychology background provide a significant edge when going into a field such as marketing/consumer preference research, or would it be a better plan to go for more marketing related job experience?
Thanks in advance!
Take it from a Psyc major- Psyc classes are a complete waste of time. Unless your ultimate goal is to get a doctorate in Psychology and council people, there’s no point in having Psychology as a major.
Depends on what you want to do as a career. Psychology is a great “catch all” degree. A BA or BS in Psych can pretty much land you any job in the business field but it won’t do anything to make you more marketable if you’re thinking of a double major.
Marketing degree should be paired with Finance or Statistics.
