Human Resources as a major?
Question: Human Resources as a major?
I am thinking about changing my major to Human resources. Actually where I am, at Carleton University, you have to take a B. of Commerce with a concentration in Managing People and Organizations. I don’t know if its the same every where or is there just something called “Human Resources” in other universities?
Anyways, can someone please give me an over view of HR and the courses needed to complete a degree in HR – I know they differ from uni to uni, but a general look. What exactly I am to expect, what kind of effort is needed..etc or if someone is already in that field if they can tell me a little bit about what they’re doing.
Thank you

My dad was in human resources his entire career. He did really well, and I think he really enjoyed it. Your advisor will be able to tell you what you need. Good luck and remember that all industries need people that are good with people. Its a great field.

Question: what the explanation for this article??its all about human resources in management?
Human resource management (HRM) is the strategic and coherent approach to the management of an organization’s most valued assets – the people working there who individually and collectively contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the business.[1] The terms “human resource management” and “human resources” (HR) have largely replaced the term “personnel management” as a description of the processes involved in managing people in organizations.[1] Human Resource management is evolving rapidly. Human resource management is both an academic theory and a business practice that addresses the theoretical and practical techniques of managing a workforce.

Is Human “a resource” or controller of resources?
Question: Is Human “a resource” or controller of resources?
Modern Management teaches us that human is a resource like other resources viz money, materials, machines, methods etc which are all dead assets or expedients/wealth. Human , a live creature of God and 2nd owner of resources after nature, and the potential user of the other resources has been ill-defined. I want a debate on the issue. Please answer with your comments.

I don’t think that you can choose between resource and resource controller. A human is both, as he tends and somehow manages to control the Earth’s resources but he manages them through human work, so the humans are resources to, but their own resources.
Oh Blackwater are you the new brownshirts “securing” markets and human “resources”?
Question: Oh Blackwater are you the new brownshirts “securing” markets and human “resources”?
Pre-Rooseveltian Anti-Trust Legislation many of the larger companies had private “enforcers” Pinkerton arose from that very origin. Government asserted its power to regulate business and business has been trying to regain the upper hand ever since. Raygun was the first real proponent of “privatization” but the bushies are going all the way to corporate Fascism. Does no one remember that Nazism would have been just another bunch of street thugs without the support of the upper class industrialists Foreign(Ford et al) and Domestic(IG Farben, VW, Krupp et al)

“Human Resources” Question?
Question: “Human Resources” Question?
So I am wondering… I am employeed at a very good company, and i’m a dedicated worker, but my assistent manger is one of the reasons I’m not doing so well doing my job… I’m literally scared of her…
There was this one time where she poked me really hard with her finger asking me a question like “why are you doing that?” Can she touch me like that?
And about the HR thing can I tell them are they the right people to tell? But would it make me look bad and would they want to fire me because i told on a higher level person? Like if HR officer and the assistent manage were friends or something?
I really do like my job but I really want to do something about this manager but I’m scared what should I do?

Your best bet is to confront the problem directly. Tell the asst mgr you want to do well in your job, but she’s not helping. And there’s to be no more poking.
If your first reaction is to run to HR, you’re admitting you give up at the first sign of trouble. Try to solve the problem yourself. If that doesn’t work and the manager is still making your life difficult, then you can go to HR and tell them you at least tried to solve it yourself.
