Does “frequency spectrum” in broadcasting businesses and mobile devices a kind of “natural resources” ?

Question: Does “frequency spectrum” in broadcasting businesses and mobile devices a kind of “natural resources” ?
As I am in Bangkok many people don’t know what “frequency spectrum” is even they watch television and use mobile phone everyday. Economically, I think it doesn’t give out energy directly as gas oil or wind but it is the fundamental source of vast business activities in human life. If it is legally well-accepted as a kind of natural resources , we may have wider perspective in preserving wealth which is hand down to us from nature.

I think it is.

Because it is a resource that our environment has created naturally and it can also be abused… meaning it can be overloaded .

Do you think the depletion of natural resources is a valid reason for governments to…?

Question: Do you think the depletion of natural resources is a valid reason for governments to…?
Limit the number of children a couple is allowed to have? Like China? The current rate of consumption is much greater than the rate of replenishment for many natural resources like water and trees, but especially fossil fuels.

I have heard that in China, if you can pay the “fee”, you can have more than 1 child. I certainly hope that money is put towards finding and harvesting alternate energy sources.

Here’s part of an AP story released Monday…
“Some time on Monday, the earth’s 7 billionth person will be born into a world facing a decline in natural resources.

“This planet can certainly support 7 billion people, but the trick is, how do we deal with common resources that we all share,” asked M. Sanjayan, lead scientist with the Nature Conservancy.

One alarming statistic: 900 million people have no access to clean water.

Water tables across the globe are receding.

Eighteen countries are over-pumping, including China, India, and the United States.

Saudi Arabia will soon have to stop growing wheat because it has depleted an underground water source.

Closely tied to water is food. Nearly one billion go to bed hungry.

“Probably the biggest hurdle is the fact that tonight at the dinner table there will be 219,000 people who were not there last night, and tomorrow night, there will be another 219,000 people,” said Lester Brown, author or World on the Edge.

But experts say it’s more than just the number of people – it’s what we make and buy.

“I mean my jeans take two thousand gallons of water to make, right? So if 7 billion people all wanted 1 pair of jeans, we’re talking, what? 14 trillion gallons of water. You see how it adds up,” said Sanjayan.

And as somewhere a new little bundle is welcomed to the world, the question remains: How to divide Earth’s gifts among seven billion and counting?”

I had no idea it takes 2000 gallons of water to make a pair of jeans. As alarming as some of this is to me, and as much as I agree that we could be in trouble, I’m not sure I can agree with literally suppressing the human race.

That depends on what population growth theory you believe. Some believe that population growth is almost at a plateau, others think the growth rate will continue to increase exponentially.

Are children resources?

Question: Are children resources?
In the 1960′s JFK announced that children are our most valuable resource. Was he trying to compare humans to oil, gas, coal, and other resources? Doesn’t this degrade human beings? As much as I was taught to honor JFK in school, I do wonder whether this statement should be respected.

When I started my career, I reported to a personnel office. Today, I report to a “human resources” department. Are people considered nothing more than cogs in a big machine?

Am I the only person around who thinks people are NOT resources? Maybe companies should be designed around the needs of people, not that other way around.

What is your opinion?
“…Children are resources because they are our future…”

Is this a meaningful statement or a catch phrase?

They’re not comparing humans to coal or oil… It’s like someone working at a factory to help build something…

Why is a Veterinarian under “Agriculture and Natural Resources”?

Question: Why is a Veterinarian under “Agriculture and Natural Resources”?
I don’t understand this classification.
This section contains mostly agriculture, farming, foresting, etc.
To be a vet you have to have a doctorates degree, all the same requirements as a human doctor.
I think it should be under “Health Science” like a doctor.
Explanation please?

Answer:

Answer by altaira_3
Because historically, veterinarians main duties were for agricultural animals. Vets mostly worked with cattle, swine, horses, etc. Dogs and cats were considered farm animals as well because they mostly had jobs on the farm too. Also, veterinary schools used to be part of an agriculture program. Most aren’t anymore but the majority of vet schools are still housed in schools that started out primarily agriculture based.
But, as fewer and fewer people farm, and moved into the cities so did veterinarians.
Veterinarians are still the first line of defense for animal agriculture and food safety. So, that is still an appropriate classification. But, you are correct that it also has many things in common with health sciences. The only reason really is that “health sciences” is typically reserved for all the healthcare fields that work with humans.
It’s more of a historical classification than anything else. Both would be appropriate, it’s just always been this way.

Hi, Member
I think it means job scope of position in HR, and it’s general position title within country.
It’s called to roles of HR as business partner into company, and quite separate organization from GM in country.
I hope it’s good information to you.
Cheers
