If I use a property management company to rent my house out and the tenant decides to sue, is s/he going to sue the property management company or me? The lease would be between the tenant and the property management company. Please provide any research resources in your answer.

My rent was $1700 a month, the management company raise the rent to $2200 a month. We are on a month to month lease, is this raise legal. Isn’t there a law liminting the amount of rent raise in one month. Two weeks ago a worker came to our apartment and to checked it out, she emphasized that she wasn’t going to raise our rent… Any thing I can do? Oh yea, living in California.

I have just got a brand new villa in Florida, near to disney and golf courses. I am wanting to rent it out when it is built in April, there are so many companies out there, is there anyone with experience or properties that they rent out there, that can reccomend decent reliable management companies or websites that work?

The complex I live in requires that each tenant have renters insurance because the management suffered losses from damages as a result of the tenants’ negligence. I want to have the freedom to choose the company that I buy it from — but they want to increase my rent in order to cover for the premiums. The management company in turn buys a policy for each unit. Can they do that ? I live in California.

My lease is up tomorrow (april 30) and I am moving out today, however, management/landlord is making me pay for the next months rent because I did not give them a 30 notice in writing that I am moving out, but i did let them know verbally (3 times)a little over 30 days ago and i have already signed an agreement with another apartment. This is was an 8 month lease. Can they still collect for next months rent?

When a property is foreclosed and ownership changes, does the property management company contracted by the former owner have any further right to rents or obligations to maintain the property in question?

I am renting a home that was filed for foreclosure by my landlord. He is currently in jail for mortgage fraud. A third party management company was hired by my landlord to collect rent. Can the management company file a judgment against me if I don’t pay my rent?

I was paying $1300 for a jr 1 bed (California) . Now since my lease will expire the management sent notice of a renew of lease with 1450/month. But since i have to leave the state after two months i want to go for monthly payment which according to the notice would be 1670/month. This is too much for me , i can easily get a $1000 apt. in another locality but i fel it is not worth to move out just for two months. Can i ask my apartment management to reduce the monthly rent. What should i do? My gross income is 2500 $/month. Is moving out for two months a better option?

I bet the farm on a business venture and it went backrupt and me with a hopeless pile of debt and with my credit destroyed. I’ve learned to live without credit but always have a problem relocating because all RE management companies and many private landlords want a credit report. Is there any way around this?
