Since the proliferation of Multi National Corporations and large private organizations, the demand for Human Resource positions has been on a rise. The differentiated responsibilities within the various position in a Human Resource department has opened a gate full of employment opportunities to young students studying business administration in human resource or degrees with labour relations, psychology, etc. when in  HR position, you never deal with one thing but with varied things under one umbrella. On one hand it is a sort of challenge and on the other a test of your talent in social and security relations.

Go through different websites and look for the position you are interested to apply in. A location specific search is preferable over a general search. While going for a HR position, be ready to deal with anything and everything in a company.

From creating advertisements to redressing work environment related problems, all have to be your cup of tea. In fact it is one job where monotony does not creep in easily because of the varied responsibilities and public relations.

The different HR positions available range from HR consultancy, HR assistant analysts, HR information analysts, HR recruiter and supervisor jobs, HR specialist jobs, HR manager jobs, HR executive jobs, HR clerk jobs, HR advisor jobs, so on and so forth. Some of the positions are overlapping but get differentiated according to the requirements of a specific company.

There are various employment agencies which keep a track of the job opportunities in human resources. These are location oriented. There are many global organizations one can consult while looking for HR jobs if he or she plans to go abroad. But it is always recommended that do a HR job even if it is low paying for 2 years, gather experience and then go for the higher jobs. This not only improves one’s resume but provides case experiences, which make a great impact while working in the field.

Can someone tell me what is the usual policy big companies have in order to hire for management positions? Do they prefer an experienced insider who may not have worked as a manager (but has shown some capabilities) or just hire a well-educated(in management) individual off the streets?

I work for a big company where Management positions are a different path than technical or professional positions. Executives who join the company have already lot of experience in previous positions. I am working in a professional, technical area, and to aspire to move to executive management position from my current position is not realistic, I think. How to get promoted to executive management?
