Question: Does the word “Director” represent an executive-level position?

In that context, is the Director kind of like the leader,

I have Narcolepsy and the meds, after fighting for insurance to cover them, are still $100+ each / month. I am a student and work, finances are tight. I accepted a position in IT management for a firm located in Germany. I am familiar somewhat with German culture and people, but not so much with what to expect day to day in the workplace – much less in a management position. My position here in the US is full of politics, backstabbing and laziness towards project management and work in general. Am I in for a change or not?
