I am a freshman at University of Arizona. It is ranked #17 for it’s undergraduate marketing program. I am majoring in Marketing with a minor in Sociology. I plan on getting around a 3.5 GPA for undergraduate work and I plan on going on to get an MBA. What other than that is necessary for a job as a Marketing Manager? Are there any just “perfect” internships or other opportunities available to further my chance for success?

I’m doing a career report, and I want to know if a marketing director and a marketing manager are the same. They have somewhat similar descriptions, but I want to make sure.

I feel like I really want to be a manager in marketing, but i don’t know what degrees to get and how to get there. I’m planning on going to community college for 2 years then transferring, and getting my b.s. in philosophy. I would then get a MBA in marketing. Is this a good path or are there better.

I am currently a marketing manager trying to figure out the next step in my career. I have had a lot of experience in marketing communications type activities: creating collateral, press releases, managing trade shows, and promotions. I am wondering what experience I may lack on the quantitative side: managing P&L, managing product lifecycle, product mix, etc. If I am more interested in the creative side of marketing, should I stay in MarCom? Or do Brand Managers deal with both? Is there less growth potential in MarCom – job ads make it seem like an entry level profession making only around $35K.

The marketing manager isn’t doing the selling alone- with him is a sales rep and a sales manager and the 3 of us share of goal that this industrial machinery company (the people who would show include the buyer, jr engineer and production manager) will buy our software. So what does marketing manager do specifically in this kind of situation?

I’m about to start my sophmore year and I want to know what classes I should be taking to become a sales/marketing manager. Though I’m still on the process of figuring what I want to do with my life, I’m starting to lean towards something to do with sales/marketing management.
