I don’t know how to Paraphrase, Need help.?
Question: I don’t know how to Paraphrase, Need help.?
Question is , 1)What is “the original position” supposed to show? And what is the purpose of the “veil of ignorance”?
I need to paraphrase this part, i have no idea, need help.
A. We are to imagine ourselves in what Rawls calls the Original Position. We are all self-interested rational persons and we stand behind “the Veil of Ignorance.” To say that we are self-interested rational persons is to say that we are motivated to select, in an informed and enlightened way, whatever seems advantageous for ourselves.
To say that we are behind a Veil of Ignorance is to say we do not know the following sorts of things: our sex, race, physical handicaps, generation, social class of our parents, etc. But self-interested rational persons are not ignorant of (1) the general types of possible situations in which humans can find themselves; (2) general facts about human psychology and “human nature”.
Self-interested rational persons behind the Veil of Ignorance are given the task of choosing the principles that shall govern actual world. Rawls believes that he has set up an inherently fair procedure here. Because of the fairness of the procedure Rawls has described, he says, the principles that would be chosen by means of this procedure would be fair principles.
A self-interested rational person behind the Veil of Ignorance would not want to belong to a race or gender or sexual orientation that turns out to be discriminated-against. Such a person would not wish to be a handicapped person in a society where handicapped are treated without respect. So principles would be adopted that oppose discrimination.
Likewise, a self-interested rational person would not want to belong to a generation which has been allocated a lower than average quantity of resources. So (s)he would endorse the principle: “Each generation should have roughly equal resources” or “Each generation should leave to the next at least as many resources as they possessed at the start.”
I don’t need advices, i need someone to paraphrase this paragraph, so that i can get an idea for the remaining answers i have, just so that i can get through the remaining questions on my own.

PLEASE HELP FIVE STARS I PROMISE!! Hw question…?
“What impacts do humans have on these resoucres?”
By”these resources” they mean ALTERNATIVE ENERGY RESOURCES
(Alternate energy resources are like wind power, solar power, biomass, etc.)
So “WHAT IMPACT DO HUMANS HAVE ON ALTERNATIVE ENERGY RESOURCES?”<--my q.
Please help me! I swear you'll get five stars andmy gratitude and appreciation!!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
=)
Answer:
Answer by Kim
That’s kind of a weird question. The impact humans have on alternative energy resources is that they create the resource and then use the energy created.
Do you mean “What impact do alternative energy resources have on the environment?”
Or “How do alternative energy resources impact humans?”
But otherwise your question isn’t really asking anything.
Could you help me with my homework?
Question: Could you help me with my homework?
I just read and answered questions on how problems arise when human-made boundaries divide Earth’s resources.
The last question asks “What dispute might arise between two neighboring countries over air resources?”
I was thinking something like wind power…but I’m not sure how that’d work….could you give me some examples? Or maybe a suggestion?
Answer:
Answer by Frosty
wind power is good
Also there is air pollution that is made in one country but floats over to the other.
Then there is the dispute over “air space” if there is an airport close to the boundary.

Following up On a application help!?
Question: Following up On a application help!?
Ok so tommorrow i want to follow up on a application with lowes i submitted. I applied for the tools department but i have no experience in that or know anything about it. You think they will give me a chance? When i call the store what should i say? “May i speak to human resources”? then tell them im interested in the position and are they hiring? you think they will let me interview even though i have no experience in that? i dont wanna sound dumb and get rejected on the phone because im not qualified. Can somebody with experience with following up retail job applications help me out? im in desperate need of a job
Answer:
Answer by David Turner
If you are applying at a local store, they probably don’t have an HR department. Ask to speak to the hiring manager.
Since you’ve already filled out the application, all you need to say, “I’m Tim ____. I filled out an application several days/weeks ago. I’m very excited at the opportunity to work for Lowe’s so I’m inquiring about the status of my application.”
These types of jobs don’t routinely expect a lot of knowledge before getting hired. If you were applying for an opening in the paint department, you would probably not be expected to know how to mix paints before starting. That would be part of the training.
But working in the tool department, they may expect you to have at least a basic understanding of tools.
In any event, there’s no need to bring that up when calling about the status of the application.
Good luck!
Help me squash Chatty Cathy’s in the Office?
Question: Help me squash Chatty Cathy’s in the Office?
Okay, here is the deal. I’m young, and I’m new to this field. I work in an office with 5 women over 50 and one male who is just a bit older than me. I’m in my late twenties. I acquired this job after relocating to a new state, and this job is exactly what I am getting my degree for. I love it!
Lately I have been having a horrible time in the office. 3 of these women will not quit chatting. This is not a quiet chatting. This is a chat that everyone in the office can obviously hear. I have brought my MP3 player to tune out this, I have turned up a small radio, I have spoke to my supervisor (who is sometimes the ring leader in the chats). Nothing has worked for me. I don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t want to go over my supervisors head and look like an idiot by how I bring it to the Managers attention. I just want it to stop. It is unprofessional, and it is inappropriate. They talk about how they’re children are the worst ever, about their illnesses, about other people! I can’t handle much more of it. I’m serious this is something that gets my blood pressure boiling! If it was a 5 or 10 minute conversation here and there I wouldn’t fret about it, but this is something that can go on for hours! The personal phone calls they take are ridiculous. They will sit and make dr appts, plans for the evening/weekend, talk to their children, yell at their children, cry at their children.
I’m not cold hearted, believe me I’m not. I do care that everyone has lives, but I have got to work and the constant chatter is making it hard for me to concentrate, and hard for me to get in to my work. I don’t want to hear about the males football games/ sports. I don’t want to hear about everyones sex lives, or lack thereof. What I want is to excel at my work and in an office this confined I can’t concentrate with the jabbering going on in my ear!
OH AND ONE MORE THING!!!! I absolutely can not STAND the sound of someone scraping a bowl, and chewing with their mouth open. These women eat at their desks every single day! They do. It’s disgusting and unprofessional also. They take their hour lunch and then come back with microwaved lunches that they rudely eat at their desks. I know I’m nit picking, but isn’t that disgusting.
I really don’t know what I want as far as help goes. Maybe help writing an professional email to my Manager addressing the issue. Or maybe a professional way to get the office quieted down. I don’t want to quit. I won’t quit. I love my job, but somehow there has got to be a compromise here. I can’t do this by myself and was hoping that my fellow Yahooians could help. PLEASE help me squash the Chatty Cathy’s in the office!
Just a side note- I work in Human Resources of a global company so there is no “just go to Human Resources” because honey, I’m ALREADY THERE!!!! :-/
Thanks for your help!
Going to my Manager is not going over my Supervisors head. There is a chain of command in almost every company. If you have a problem, go to your first superior – in my case my supervisor. If I don’t get anywhere there, or I don’t like the result I can go to my manager, and then the Owner. I don’t know where you work, but using the chain of command is highly appropriate….
To the person about the BOSE earphones: LOVE IT! Awesome idea
Answer:
Answer by djthrenody189
Move up to your own office or move out to a new opportunity. I can’t believe that you didn’t realize that all that behavior is what you signe up for in order to have that type of job in that line of work. What you describe is what the usual person engages in to cope with stress at work…the fact that you are different is important but leaves you in the decided minority. Compromise is what HR recommends, not what it follows.

Thanks Boston Gal. I am on the Deans List and have a high GPA. I hope to get my Bachelors and get started entry level while also working on a Masters after that.
Answer:
Answer by LA Boston Gal
how GOOD you are will determine the best stability. Mediocre workers are the first to get laid off in any organization. if you are smart, innovative and a creative problem solver then you will rise to the top in any area of focus. If you are working on your Bachelors in Business, it really doesn’t matter which one you pick because undergrad only provides the basic foundation. You will need a masters to earn any real money. it is always wise to stick with the general such as finance or marketing in undergrad. then you can branch out.
